There’s something special about watching your youth group light up when faith and fun come together, and that’s exactly what happened during one of our youth nights at church.
For this event, I wanted to do something different. The kids in our group actually inspired the idea for a Bible Scavenger Hunt, so I ran with it, and with a little help (and a lot of prayer), it turned into one of our funnest youth nights yet.
This wasn’t your average scavenger hunt. Each clue was written as a riddle based on Bible stories, leading to different rooms in the church: the sanctuary, kitchen, office, children’s room, and more. To make it even more exciting, every answer revealed a Morse code message that the teams had to decode.
We split into two groups: the Blue Team and the Green Team. The competition was real! Everyone’s brain was working overtime as they tried to connect the riddles, decode the clues, and race to the next spot. There were plenty of “aha!” moments and a few “wait, what does this mean?!” ones too.
At one point, they were all gathered around their clues, whispering and scribbling letters, and every so often someone would come to me for a hint, half frustrated and half laughing. It was that kind of frustration that’s actually fun, the kind that comes from wanting to figure something out together.
The goal that night was simple: to have fun while learning and thinking about the stories of the Bible in a new way.Seeing them work together, laugh, and celebrate when they finally cracked the final code reminded me just how powerful these small moments can be.
We ended the night with prizes, smiles, and the kind of joy that stays with you long after the game ends.
The same Bible Scavenger Hunt printable we used is now available here on The Mustard Seed Hub. It includes all the riddles, Morse code clues, and the answers, along with the guidelines and rules (coming soon with a video tutorial).
Whether you’re planning a youth night, Bible camp, or church event, I hope this scavenger hunt brings your group as much laughter and teamwork as it brought ours.
Because faith can be fun, and sometimes all it takes is a few clues to remind us how amazing God’s stories really are.
